Over the past several months, I have read numerous articles and comments from many 'viners. Often, the articles and comments will target one political party or another, generally the Democratic or Republican Party, with the author of the article or comment identifying with the opposing party. I consider myself a moderate, I am a registered independent, I believe that I am relatively open-minded, and that I can read articles and comments from an un-biased perspective.
Over time, in the course of reading articles and comments, it has become apparent to me that there are some issues that break along Party lines, where the persons aligned with the issue is also aligned with either Democratic Party or Republican Party, their Party backs the issue and has made that issue a focus of their Party's identity.
I have also come to realize that there are many issues that cross Party lines, where the issue has significant support from persons aligned with both Parties. These are the issues I believe cross Party lines. I should point out that I came to these conclusions by reading articles and interacting with others on the 'vine, and from discussions with people during daily interaction at work and in social environments. I purposefully haven't listened to the spin doctors in the media (and I truly wish everyone would quit listening to them, converse with others, and think for themselves). Please feel free to present any issue that you feel crosses Party lines.
2nd Amendment / Gun Control
Gun ownership does not break out by political affiliation. There are gun enthusiasts from all walks of life. Gun owners are usually very passionate about their right to gun ownership.
Immigration / Border Control
There is considerable discussion from people registered with both parties supporting immigration reform.
I find it humourous that some on the left refer to some in the GOP as the "Religious Right". Does that mean the no one on the left is religious?
This is a moral issue and no political party has a higher moral conscience than any other.
Military / National Security
There is universal support for our troops and other agencies whose role is to keep us safe.
Americans from both parties overwhelmingly want a better education enviroment for our children.
Democrats, Republicans, rich, poor, male, female, of all origins want lower taxes.
